Desserts
Rocky Road Fudge Bars
Marien handed me this recipe yesterday (Nov.30, 2012) and said it “Must be put in the family cook book.” So here it is!!! She had …
Nanachoccy Cake
This chocolate cake contains no dairy but still tastes great! For food sensitivities, this cake contains egg, cocoa, coconut oil, and starches.
Eggnog Pie
I thought I’d lost this one. Found it while sorting through old stacks of “stuff” after Christmas. This came from the December 1978 issue of Cuisine Magazine. It’s been a favorite for years on special occasions. I often make it in a spring-form pan instead of a pie plate. This can be made through step 5 a day or two ahead.
Chocolate Kahlua Bundt Cake
This was a holiday treat at a Christmas party. Wonderfully easy for rushed cooking season! It came from Kathy Scofield. It freezes well too!
Scones
Holly Bryson, a good friend of Annie’s, has graciously allowed us to try out her scones recipe. Mmmm.
Lemon Meringue Tarte
Again, an Ina Garten recipe, this lemon filling uses nine eggs( four of the whites are used for the meringue) and is not as tart in flavor as the cornstarch-based filling. The filling and tarte crust can be made a day ahead.
Candied Pecans
I always bag sacks for Christmas gifts. Great in salads or as a snack! The original recipe called for 1 pound of nuts. If you like more “candy” use that quantity.
World’s Best Chocolate Sauce
I found this in Bound to Please. It keeps well, if not consumed right away… also good in hot coffee! Very easy and rich!!!
Pears / Poire Belle Helene
This is a classic French dessert the French students learned to make. It can be done with canned or fresh pears.
